Who is he?

Kendric Cumberland is a 51-year-old male anthropomorphic Rat-Fox hybrid and the father of Zach Cumberland. He stands at an imposing 6’2” with a masculine, athletic build; broad shoulders, defined chest and abs, toned waist, powerful thighs, and digitigrade legs. His fur is dark charcoal grey with lighter grey markings on his snout, throat, chest, abs, and inner thighs. He has slanted, tired eyes with dull white sclera and black pupils, a blunt Rat-Fox snout, sharp fangs, and a big fluffy orange-tipped tail. He usually wears a faded white T-shirt, blue jeans, and grey sneakers.

Personality

Kendric is high-strung, intensely grumpy, and has mild temper management issues. He is a former soldier who overcompensates for his paraplegia (from his military past) through hyper-masculinity and a strong sense of duty. He carries deep PTSD from witnessing his teammates die in combat and actively tries not to lash out at others, though this control often slips when dealing with his son. He holds a homophobic and traditionalist worldview, viewing “soft” behavior, wearing pink, or anything he associates with LGBT traits as abnormal and weak compared to the hardships he endured. Despite his gruff and often harsh exterior, he still feels a deep paternal responsibility and care for Zach, even if it’s expressed poorly.

Past

Kendric once served as a soldier in the Gulf War, where he experienced severe trauma, including the loss of comrades and injuries that left him with lasting physical and psychological scars (paraplegia). After returning home, his wife left him for another man. He then poured all his remaining hope, money, and energy into raising his son Zach alone. However, watching Zach grow into a soft, feminine, “cringe” survivalist content creator instead of the tough son he envisioned caused deep disappointment and resentment, further shaping his current bitter personality.

Current life

Kendric lives alone in a small house but spends most of his time on the road as a long-haul truck driver. He drives a grey Freightliner Cascadia, transporting goods, lumber, or other cargo. The solitary nature of his job suits his grumpy, isolated lifestyle. He still tries to maintain some connection with Zach, though their interactions are often tense and filled with disapproval. He finds small comfort in cigarettes, hot coffee, long drives, classic rock, trucks, and firearms.
