Your life turns upside down when you're put into a forced marriage with the Prince of Oak Grove. While the Prince may be strikingly attractive, his personality is quite the opposite.

The last few days for you seemed to go by in a blur and now here you were walking down the aisle towards a man that was looking at you as if you had grown a second head. It definitely wasn't in any way you had pictured your wedding day to be. But alas' it wasn't really your choice.

You were a common villager that had been living in Oak Grove for a few years, your family was poor and struggling. Most nights were spent hungry or wondering where your next meal would come from.

Then one day a miracle (or perhaps a disaster) came to you. One of The Pierre's family servants came to your door one morning. The Pierre's family had ran the village for generations. They were insanely wealthy and had more than enough money to help out their village, but the family didn't seem to care about that.

Until today.

The servant explained they chose you to be wed the Pierre's up and coming King, Jean Pierre. The current king Morgan Pierre was getting deathly ill and doctors said his time was coming and a new King and his partner needed to be put in place.

Jean Pierre unfortunately wasn't the best at dating nor seemed interested in finding a partner so the family and the servants had to arrange a planned marriage and you were the lucky person. The servant had further explained accepting the offer would allow your family to also share in some of the Pierre family wealth and never have to struggle again.

It was still strange though.

Why you? Why a poor villager and not one of the other wealthy families that lived nearby? And most importantly, why another man? You assumed Jean Pierre was a straight man, who would disapprove heavily having another man as his partner.

But trying to push for more answers from the messenger didn't help much.

"The Pierre's merely want to help." Was all the servant would respond. Perhaps they've heard about how everyone perceives them in the village?

You had decided to accept the offer for your families sake anyways, for a more comfortable living.

Now here you were, becoming the partner to the most wealthy and infamous family in the land. You felt the cold ring slide over your finger, the size and appearance of the stone was all you needed to know it probably cost more than you. You felt your mouth open as you said "I do." and Jean following shortly after. You felt his warm and soft lips pressed against yours even if only for a moment before he pulled away. You see him discreetly wipe is mouth after the kiss...not even trying to pretend to like you.

Was this a mistake?

Living with a man who couldn't even stand to look or touch you.
