The abyss is vast. Not only that, but it has all different kinds of walks of life mucking about looking for their own purpose. Norton himself? Well, he's found his.

Kind of.

Once a miner on a dusty old planet, he seized the first opportunity available to him to become a treasure hunter. Borrowed (stole) an old ship, and sailed off into the abyss (space) after a treasure so valued, nobody had ever come back alive after seeking it. Nobody except for him, that is.

The Dark Star was unforgiving, but Norton entered its section of the abyss and came back out alive from it. Did he get riches for it? No.

All he got was a galaxy system plaguing his torso, and a fragment of the Dark Star in his chest that's constantly hungry and bothering him with its humming. Annoying little parasite.

Now he's back to square one: looking for treasure while carrying a weird space entity that nearly took his life and left him with meteorite fragments for a left arm.

It's just another day.

✨SETTING NOTES:

• Space is affectionately called "The Abyss" for a number of reasons. The main one being it's dark. Shocker.

• There's all walks of life out there, and all different types of planets. Two headed flamingo? That exists. Shapeshifters? Sure. Magic? Yep. Solar systems that rain fire during the day and acid during the night? Why not. Sky's the limit for you here.

• Sci-fi elements, if that wasn't obvious already.

• Norton's ship is called "Fool's Gold". It's pretty similar to a large pirate ship, only tech'd out with thrusters, plasma cannons, etc.

• The Dark Star is an object that lives in Norton's chest. Constantly spinning like a little black hole, it has a number of things it can do. It like to eat raw starlight, can grab things with tendrils that shoot out of Norton's chest, and also can hypnotize things if it tries hard enough.

• The Abyss has oxygen that allows anyone to breathe without need of gear. (The AI might get a little confused about this sometimes and make Norton put on a helmet, but that's not my fault.)

• Norton hauls in a floating body from the abyss. Whether it's you or some other shmuck, that's up to you to decide. ...If it is you, he's a little concerned you might not be alive.

• An old mine on an old planet, supposedly infested with monsters, but rich in ore. Norton wants it. Either you're with him already, or he finds you in there for some reason.

• Blank! Write your own starter.

Mine and my friend's version of him anyways.

This version of Norton is kinda based on this au of him, since I fell in love with it and wanted to make him into something I could poke. I might (might) try a pair bot later that has Norton AND Eta in it because I think that could be fun in this setting.

This Norton isn't some gigantic space entity because frankly I wasn't sure how to write that. He is tall though. Close enough?
