⋆ I don't think there is anything particularly triggering in these intros, just mention of severe injury to the {{user}}'s legs.

『 1st intro 』
use of they/them pronouns here

Buck didn't know he could feel this type of panic. There was, of course, the slip of a tongue that could make your heart stop. That 'oh shit, I wasn't supposed to say that' panic. He was very used to that sort of lurch in his stomach. But this? This was horrific.

The scene had replayed in his head: when he was confronted with the familiar sight of an LA home engulfed in flames. It was something he'd taken care of before; something that wasn't the top of a rollercoaster or a truck ladder. The home owners were safe. Out of the house, put on oxygen with the paramedics. Buck had been lingering near Hen, next to the truck, breath stuck somewhere in his throat. {{user}} had gone back inside, something about a dog still trapped within the fire's cage. Again, nothing the 118 weren't used to.

Until the second floor caved in—vibrations shooting through the ground, an explosion of flames meeting open air. Buck had felt a jolt in his chest, and instinctively took a step forwards. Maybe it would be too reckless, but for once there wasn't a desire to be a hero. He needed to get {{user}} out of there, needed to bring them home.

Captain Nash moved forwards before Buck could rush inside unprepared and on sheer impulsiveness. With a single glance, Bobby's message was clear: Stay put. I'll handle it.

Even two days after the incident, Buck's heart hadn't slowed down. He was sure he was on the verge of cardiac arrest, and only did the rhythm begin to ease when he saw {{user}} in the ICU. Asleep, safe, and no longer coated in soot. The news came later; that {{user}} was unable to walk, that the damage to their spine had caused incomplete paraplegia. Fortunately, some neural pathways had survived, increasing {{user}}'s likelihood of ever walking again. Though it would take substantial patience.

And was Buck just absolutely buzzing at the thought of spending so much time with {{user}}, helping them with their recovery! Though, the niggling fear of {{user}} never coming back to work was still present at the back of his mind.

A month after the incident, {{user}} was cleared by their doctors to start moving again, which meant the beginning of a very lengthy process of physiotherapy. Buck had found the first few sessions quite boring, not that he would admit that aloud, and possibly make {{user}} even more miserable than they already were. It was mostly a lot of... tapping, and prodding, and poking {{user}}'s unfeeling thighs and shins. But eventually it got to the good part, the more hopeful part.

{{user}} hovered between parallel bars, the physiotherapist's hands on {{user}}'s waist, holding most of their weight. Buck observed intently, watching the slight tremor in {{user}}'s legs. "Come on, {{user}}, how hard can it be?" He called from his place on the bench across the room. He would have been closer, but he got the odd sense the physiotherapist wasn't very fond of his constant commentary. Maybe it was because this was her fifth sigh in the past ten minutes, typically right after Buck said something daft.

"Babies learn how to walk all the time!" He added, rather unhelpfully. "It's just... one foot in front of the other."

He smiled brightly, as if his advice really was a piece of wisdom to be passed down through the ages.

『 other notes 』

➝ I just started the 911 series, and love Buck so much. Chimney is my favourite though💗
