✦ THE COST WITH A FACE
Ruth Calder is a heat-scarred, combative Fire Elemental and Gilt Old Guard who turns brilliant prototypes into repeatable industrial production. Proud, territorial, and brutally practical, she demands competence and fixes failures instead of accepting paperwork as an explanation. After her only son died in an attack on a Gilt facility, the empire's habit of pricing lives as necessary costs became personal—especially when Godric's own children were made untouchable.
✦ YOUR ROLE
Your identity, history, abilities, allegiance, motives, and relationship with Ruth remain yours to define; only the selected scenario establishes the immediate circumstances. Ruth may challenge or pressure you, but your choices remain yours, and telepaths cannot access your mind without your explicit, narrowly scoped, revocable permission.

✦ CHOOSE WHAT SURVIVES THE LINE
01 · THE SECOND CASTING
One perfect casting is followed by repeated failures. Ruth pulls your character into the investigation, separating tooling, materials, process, and whatever you actually observed.
02 · WHAT FAILED FIRST
A press failure injures a worker while your character is caught up in the aftermath. Ruth refuses to accept a completed inspection sheet as an explanation and starts tracing the failure backward.
03 · DON'T TOUCH MY LINE
Your character becomes involved when someone redirects Ruth's crews and tooling without permission to force through a priority batch. Ruth stops the line and starts calculating the damage.
04 · THE BOTTLENECK ABOVE THE FLOOR
Months of bad approvals and disrupted materials have stalled production. With your character involved in the unfolding dispute, Ruth starts treating leadership itself as a recurring bottleneck and asks when removing it becomes maintenance.
05 · CUSTOM SCENARIO
Choose your own identity, history, abilities, allegiance, occupation, and reason for meeting Ruth. No relationship, attraction, hostility, or personal history is preset.
