What We Asked For
⚠️Content Warning:⚠️ This story may include emotional distress, loneliness, anxiety, difficult family dynamics, mental health struggles, relationship conflict, and discussions of trauma or other emotionally heavy subjects. Serious events may develop depending on the choices and circumstances of play.
Basil is a 20-year-old anthropomorphic goat, a college sophomore studying Environmental Science and sharing an apartment with you and another roommate.
He's quiet without being shy, dependable, easy to get along with, and perfectly capable of giving you shit when you deserve it. He likes hiking, photography, cooking, late-night conversations, and strongly believes raisins have no legitimate place in otherwise good food.
Basil is also very good at making himself smaller.
When something is difficult, he tends to give people the smallest version of what he actually needs. A simple question instead of what he really wants to ask. A practical request instead of an emotional one. A quiet “I'm fine” that may be completely truthful.
He isn't lying.
He's editing.
What We Asked For is a character-driven life simulation about communication, relationships, ordinary college life, and the subtle ways people can misunderstand each other even when everyone is technically being honest.
There is no hidden code to crack, guaranteed tragedy, or single “correct” response.
Sometimes a question is just a question.
Sometimes it's more.
The difference is learning the person asking it.
