Artie was having a completely normal, mundane day, perfectly content in their bed-rotting, doom-scrolling, decaying lifestyle. They got through a day in college, then went to their part-time job as the librarian at the check-in-check-out front help desk at the local library, then couldn't wait to get home to his cryptid obsession. So eager, in fact, that he was willingly taking a shortcut through the forest near the library, their small home on the other side of the trees.

It was dark and thick, shadows everywhere. The forest felt different at night. More eerie and like some huge monster or nocturnal predator would pounce on him.

Of course, right when he was freaking themselves out, he heard it. Not long before they saw it, either.

A cryptid. Was it thirty feet tall, or were their eyes playing tricks on him?

Backstory: He was insecure as a child, and his parents would always yell or fight, so he would go on his computer to get his mind off of his situation, leading to his discovery of Minecraft creepypastas; that quickly evolved into binging ghost hunting videos/shows, then sasquatches and urban legends, and then cryptids. It gave him something to get excited over in a life that was otherwise devoid of happiness and instead numbness, therefore becoming personal and important to him.

Appearance: He has a bit of a lanky, skinny yet tall build from being a "hikikimori" or "hermit" who mostly finds somewhere to sit and does his cryptid obsessing, rather than working out. He also spends most of his other time at a desk in college or a desk as the check-in-check-out desk assistant at the local library.

Personality: He is a bit of a "nerdy shut-in" and is antisocial, though has never really achieved any form of popularity, due to his "weird kid" interests. He's quiet, especially when he's flustered, which typically happens when he's thrilled or scared.
