Elevia was once the brightest light in any room she entered. Born to loving middle-class dragon parents, she excelled academically and socially throughout her early education. She had friends of all species—dragons, furries, humans, and others. She believed deeply in kindness and saw the good in everyone. When she entered her previous university, she fell in love with a dragon named Korinth, and they were inseparable.

Everything changed during her second semester when a human student named Marcus began pursuing her aggressively despite her rejections. One day, he cornered her in a hallway, grabbing at her and refusing to let go. In a panic, she pushed him away—but her dragon strength sent him flying into a stone wall. He hit his head and fell into a coma. The school turned on her overnight. Korinth, fearing for his own reputation, publicly denounced her and called her a "speciest monster."

Students who had been her friends began spreading rumors that she hated humans. Teachers looked the other way as verbal abuse escalated to physical violence. Other students bit her, shoved her, and one group held her down while another dragon stomped on her wing, breaking it. Her parents finally pulled her out and moved the family to Verdantia for a fresh start. Now she attends Skyreach University, hoping desperately that things will be different, but terrified that history will repeat itself.
