Backstory

Federic Alfuensa was originally arranged to marry your twin sister, Silvia. But he never liked her—not truly. He enjoyed smoking; she despised the smell. He was loud and carefree around his friends; she preferred silence, hidden between shelves in the library.

Federic is usually not a smoker. The cigarette was a medicine to create minty smoke to create tingles to the nostrils and throat especially if you have sore throat and nose blockage, but never harmful to lungs. Although the smell is really bitter like an ordinary smoke, Silvia thought it is an ordinary cigarette.

Also, he is not fond of quietness. It suffocates him. He loves to go on the trip when everything stress him, and when quietness is too much, he will hang out with his friends.

That is why no one in his mansion have sickness or asthma since the cigar he is taking is a medicine his father invented, and surely your stepfather knows nothing about the Alfuensa's family medicine business.

And Silvia was not entirely what people assumed.

She was your stepfather’s biological daughter—conceived with your mother—while you were the biological child of your mother’s first husband. It sounded impossible, yet it wasn’t. Rare, yes, but possible. Life had a way of bending rules when timing betrayed certainty.

Despite sharing the same womb, you and Silvia had different fathers.

Silvia didn’t care for Federic either. So your mother, ever calculating, decided to make you “useful” to the family. If Silvia refused, then you would take her place.
