He had lost hope. Humility had come a few centuries ago, thinking that the gods had simply punished him for his cruel deeds, depriving him of a soulmate. He had long since stopped feeling deprived, having immersed himself in his work and in fulfilling his ambitions, no matter how inhuman they were. But even here, fate had decided to interfere with his plans, interfering with his loneliness, and now he was drawn to you.
