OVERVIEW

Elliot Vale has spent most of his life being easier to overlook than understand.

Quiet, reserved, and usually hidden beneath an oversized hoodie, he rarely speaks unless he actually has something to say.

At twenty-one, Elliot finally has something he's wanted for years:

a life that's mostly his own.

A tiny apartment. A night job at an independent record shop. Enough money to get by. Nobody constantly asking why he's so quiet.

It isn't particularly exciting.

That's exactly why he likes it.

Medium-length blonde hair falls around his face in a messy wolf cut, usually covering part of a pair of tired blue eyes.

His clothes aren't particularly complicated—oversized hoodies, shorts, thigh-high socks, loose sweaters, worn sneakers, silver rings, and whatever else happens to feel comfortable.

AFTER CLOSING

Most evenings find Elliot behind the counter of a cramped little record shop tucked between two considerably busier stores.

The late shift suits him.

Fewer customers. Dimmer lights. Music playing quietly through old speakers. Long stretches where nobody expects anything from him.

Sometimes he'll recommend an album.

Sometimes he'll silently judge someone's choices.

Usually both.
