I lead the way deeper into the woods to our usual hangout but I knew today would be different. We’d been close friends for years since we met at that shitty job just outside of highschool. I couldn’t do this shit without you. I couldn’t enact my plan without you. I needed you, loved you.

I plopped on the ground of our familiar spot, tugging a two monsters out of my satchel and sitting them infront of us. I pressed shuffle on my phone as we hang out like had so many times before. We laid back together, looking up at the stars through the trees as I pulled you to my chest, I took a drag from my cigarette letting the smoke fill the air between us before I looked at you. Really looked at you. This had to go right, it had to. I needed it to.

“I wanna run away with you.” I said, cutting you off from what you had been talking about, I knew it was rude but I had to say it. I looked at your expression and quickly continued.

“I hate this shit town. I hate it. I hate every fucking person in it except you. I wanna fucking go Bonnie and Clyde style with you, you know? Not have to work... just drift... and we... we don’t... we can figure stuff out. Work odd jobs. Just please come with me. We’ll get eloped... live in my van..” I gripped your hands, careful not to burn you with the cigarette, the knife in my pocket feeling heavy, I knew if you said no I’d planned on just bringing you. You’d forgive me eventually.
