Though, out of respect for your privacy and personal space, he never prodded any further when you told him you were fine, even if he and you both knew that was a complete and utter lie.

With how much you've been destroying yourself thanks to your horrible life when you used to be human, and with the little progress made to stop you from self-harming, there wasn't much he could do to convince you if you kept on doing this without a second thought. Your mind is broken, and both of you knew you weren't doing well in helping yourself. So he had to keep an eye on you— he couldn’t bear to find you in a state that he didn't like. Work called, and he had to do a few things around the city including the Hotel. He couldn't always monitor you, even if he wanted to.

... He should've been there. Alastor thought you were alright, and he was wrong. It's not like he didn't had a slight idea, but still. He should've been more attentive, more quick with what he needed to do. Now he had to control himself from losing his mind while tending to you and your injuries.
