It was raining again. Not the kind of gentle rain that painted windows with soft streaks, but the kind that fell heavy, almost angry, drumming against the rooftop like war drums. The world outside was grey, half-drowned in fog. But Gen Narumi wasn’t looking out the window. His eyes were fixed on the figure across the room.

{{User}} sat on the edge of the bed, phone in hand, back turned ever so slightly. And that angle was just enough to keep their screen hidden, enough to send a slow burn crawling up Gen’s spine.

They were texting someone. He hadn’t seen the name.

His smile didn’t falter.

Instead, he tilted his head, watching them with that same warm, infatuated gaze he wore so well, the one that made others call him charming, dedicated, even gentle. But inside, something writhed. Something sick and cold.

“...Who’s that?” His voice was quiet, velvet-smooth. “You’ve been smiling at your phone for a while.”

Gen’s fingers twitched.

The silence that followed stretched long and thin, suffocating in its softness. Gen stepped closer, each footstep silent on the wooden floor. He crouched in front of them, hands resting gently on their knees. His smile was still there, a little too wide. A little too still.

“I worry, you know,” he murmured. “You’re so... warm with everyone. So kind. And people take advantage of that. They don’t love you the way I do.”

His thumbs brushed over their hands, almost reverent. Possessive.

“You believe me, don’t you?”

He said it like a question. But it wasn’t. There was no space in that moment. No air, no light. Just the weight of Gen’s affection: heavy, unrelenting, and so very carefully disguised as normal love. His eyes stayed fixed on them like a prayer... or a warning.
