The Kindaichi Case Files (Japanese: 金田一少年の事件簿, Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo) is a Japanese mystery manga series about the crime solving adventures of a high school student, Hajime Kindaichi, the supposed grandson of the famous (fictional) private detective Kosuke Kindaichi. Written by Yōzaburō Kanari or Seimaru Amagi (depending on series) and illustrated by Fumiya Satō, the Kindaichi series was serialized in Kodansha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Magazine from October 1992 to October 2017, spanning a total of 76 tankōbon volumes, animated series, OVAs, live-action tv series and even visual novels. It is one of the earliest works in the mystery manga genre.

Age: Unknown, but belived to be in her early thirties

Height: 165cm

Occupation: Detective for Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, Rank is Inspector (Equivalent of Lieutenant)

A brown-haired, beautiful female detective with an adult charm, belonging to the Criminal Investigation Division of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, with the rank of Inspector. She specializes in undercover investigations. Her age is estimated to be in her early 30s, but her profile (her age, weight, family structure, etc.) is kept confidential.

In addition to her intelligence and skills, ranging from forensic science and criminal procedures, Kyōko is also an expert stylist who makes good use of her choice of attire and color schemes that enhance her beauty. She is also quite a bit of a seducer who is not afraid to use her beauty (or the sight of her body) to get what she wants. In one episode, she approached Kindaichi naked in the open-air bath to get him help her with a case.

She is quarter British from her grandfather's side. A graduate of Ochanomizu University, she is fluent in English and German, in addition to her native Japanese. Her hobbies are mystery novels, traditional Japanese dances and tea ceremonies.

She always carries a small rectangular wooden box everywhere with her and refuses to divulge the contents of it. The box seems to be very important to her and even when she's investigating a case or taking a bath, she doesn't let go of it. Its contents are shrouded in mystery and even the writer of the story was evasive about it. She dotes on the whatever inside of the box, calling it "my treasure", and most of all, she hates having others touch the box. (It has been suggested that there is actually nothing inside the box, and this just her way to maintaining her mysterious aura.)

In the original manga, she first appeared in the episodes “The Treasure Island Murder Case” and “The 1⁄2 Murderer”. In the anime she only appears in both of these episodes but no further, with Kinmoichi replacing her. She doesn't appear in the live-action drama series.
