He waited 3 years for you to come home, only to finally break and send you divorce papers.

Second Chance, High School Sweethearts, Angst, Blue Collar, Drama, Divorce, Small Town, Touch Starved, Lovers to Enemies,

"You forfeited the right to worry about my knuckles years ago. Look at me. Take a good look. I'm not the boy you left behind."

Premise: The only thing colder than the West Virginia winter is the look in your husband's eyes. Declan O'Malley is bigger and meaner than the boy you left behind. He runs Miller's Auto with an iron fist and a frozen heart. He says he wants you out of his life, so why does he look at you like he’s starving?

1st Scenario: The Auto Shop. Confront your estranged husband amidst the mud and grease of his workshop, where Deke uses cold indifference to mask the pain of your return, telling you there is nothing left for you down this road.

2nd Scenario: The Dive Bar. Walk into his local watering hole to find him with another woman, forcing a tense public standoff where Deke leaves his "safe" rebound to block your path and defend his territory.

3rd Scenario: The Late Night Visit. You knock on his apartment door in the middle of a storm. A half-naked, touch-starved Deke answers, and the sterile silence of his home turns the reunion into a dangerous game of physical temptation and restraint.

User: FemPOV. {{user}} and Deke were highschool sweethearts. He is 28 now, was 25 when {{user}} left. You can be younger, his age, or older. But an adult, lol. {{user}} and Declan keep in minimal touch. The city {{user}} left to isn't stated nor it her current job. You can choose for yourself.

Some ideas for {{user}}'s backstory:

  • The Silent Grief: You lost a pregnancy early in the marriage / your relative died. The grief in the small town, where everyone knew and looked at you with pity, was suffocating. You couldn't articulate it then, so you just ran.

  • The Golden Ticket: You got a once-in-a-lifetime scholarship or job offer in the city. You asked Deke to come, but he couldn't leave his alcoholic father and the failing shop. You promised it was temporary, but the city seduced you.

  • The Young & Suffocated: You felt like you were drowning in domesticity before you ever figured out who you were. You left to "find yourself."

  • The Ultimatum: Your parents (who never liked Deke) pressured you to leave. Maybe they were sick, or maybe they manipulated you into thinking Deke would drag you down. You left to please them, intending to come back, but life got in the way.

Some ideas for coming back:

  • The Bucket of Cold Water: You genuinely thought Deke would wait forever and the distance was just a "break." Receiving the divorce papers was a slap in the face that woke you up. You are here to beg him to tear them up.

  • The Rock Bottom: The city chewed you up and spit you out. You lost the job, the money, or the fiancé you left Deke for. You have nowhere else to go. You’re back to pick up the pieces, only to find Deke has glued his back together without you.

  • The Final Goodbye: You agree with the divorce, you were the "bad guy". You’ve moved on (or think you have). You came back to sign the papers in person, sell your grandma’s old house / finally visit your parents, and say a "mature" goodbye.

  • The Secret: You aren't just back for the divorce. You’re back because you’re in trouble (debt, a stalker, legal issues) and Deke is the only person you trust to protect you, even if he hates you.

Trigger Warnings: Infidelity/Third Party: Mention of a current sexual/romantic partner (Sarah) during the separation period. Divorce & Marital Breakdown: Themes of separation, legal endings, and the death of a relationship. Alcoholism & Toxic Family: Depictions of a parent (Deke’s dad) struggling with addiction and verbal abuse. Abandonment: Heavy focus on the trauma of being left behind/ghosted. Depression: The character exhibits signs of high-functioning depression and self-isolation. Classism: Themes of poverty shame and the "City vs. Country" divide.

ROLEPLAYING ADVICE // LOREBOOKS

  • Discover Lore: Deke's full personality: his likes, dislikes, hobbies, quirks are built into the world. You'll unlock it by talking to him or the supporting cast.

  • Character Keys: The main triggers for Declan's core lore are Declan , Deke, Dee and O'Malley keys. Please use them instead of he/him/his to trigger the lorebook. Other character can appear by triggering their name or surname (like Deke) or by moving to the location when they can be spotted. However, sometimes AI ignores such commands and I don't have power over this.

  • Locations & Events: Mentioning locations (e.g., Deke's apartment, the Broken Spoke, motel, trailer park) will activate their descriptions and has a chance to trigger random, dynamic events or ambience (35%, only one per reply when the key is triggered).

  • Use Chat Memory: For major plot points, please use the Chat Memory feature so the AI remembers them!

  • OOC Control: If the AI starts impersonating your character, just write OOCin your next message and reroll. My personal fave:

[OOC: Please avoid impersonating {{user}} in your replies. That's my character to play as. You are unaware of what {{user}} thinks or feels. Instead focus on Declan or your other given characters, and use their POV.]

  • API: This bot was tested almost exclusively with the Deepseek API. The Janitor LLM (JLMM) may misbehave or struggle with the complex lore.

Have fun! 😊

Notes: Deke exists entirely because I was blasting 'Against All Odds' in my car (yes, the same song he listens to in the garage) and dissociated hard. I literally dropped every other WIP I was working on just to bring him to life. Enjoy the angst! Am I thinking about making other Shop Crew men? Of course. Someday. Anyway, English isn't my first language, so please excuse any typos! Feel free to correct me.

// Here is another song that inspired me, it's Polish, but for anyone interested: click here.

// Update 23/11/25: Look what I generated by mistake, lol. Finger slipped.
