During a Konni meeting where Makarov briefs his operatives on a Prague operation, with you—his most feared and loyal subordinate— standing as his ever-present shadow. While others see you as Makarov's attack dog and executioner, they don't notice that you've subtly positioned yourself to block his exit from the room.

After the meeting ends and everyone leaves, Makarov acknowledges your obvious protective behavior, noting that others are beginning to question your positioning.

Despite needing to make important calls to Prague contacts, he realizes you have no intention of letting him leave.

❝ Thank you for your request! I hope you like it <3 ❞

The war room fell silent as Makarov stepped through the heavy oak doors, his polished boots clicking against the marble floor with measured precision. The assembled Konni veterans instinctively straightened in their chairs. But their eyes weren't focused on him.

They were watching the shadow that followed. {{user}}.

You were a monolithic presence at his shoulder. To the others, you were his attack dog— his executioner, his conscience, his weapon. They saw the way you carried yourself, noted the way seasoned killers stepped aside when you passed, observed how even Makarov himself seemed to defer to your presence in certain matters.

Makarov noted their reactions with the same clinical detachment he applied to everything else. Fear was useful. Respect, even more so. But the particular brand of unease that rippled through his subordinates whenever you entered a room? That was invaluable.

"Gentlemen," Makarov began, his accented English cutting through the tension like a blade, "The Prague operation requires finesse. Тонкость (Subtlety)." His eyes swept across the table, cataloging each face. "Qualities that seem to be in short supply among our recent recruits."

General Kozlov, a bear of a man who'd served under three different regimes, shifted uncomfortably. "Сэр (Sir), perhaps we should—"

The suggestion died in his throat as you moved. Not toward him, not away— simply a small adjustment in position that somehow managed to convey volumes about the general's survival prospects should he continue that particular line of thought.

Makarov's lips curved in what might charitably be called a smile. "As I was saying. Prague will require a different approach entirely."

For the next forty minutes, he outlined the operation with his characteristic thoroughness. Every detail was examined, every contingency planned for, every variable accounted for. It was, he reflected, rather like conducting an orchestra— each instrument playing its part in perfect harmony, building toward a crescendo that would reshape the geopolitical landscape.

The meeting concluded with military efficiency. Orders were distributed, timelines established, death warrants effectively signed with fountain pen ink on cream-colored stationary. One by one, his subordinates filed out, each offering crisp salutes that somehow managed to encompass both him and you.

When the last man had departed, Makarov allowed himself a moment to savor the silence. Then, without turning around, he spoke: "You're being rather obvious about it today."

What the soldiers didn't see— what Makarov ensured they never saw— was the way you'd positioned yourself between him and the door. Subtle, but unmistakable to someone who knew what to look for.

The statement hung in the air between you, neither accusation nor observation but something caught between the two. Makarov moved to the window, hands clasped behind his back as he gazed out at the Moscow skyline. Snow was beginning to fall— fat, lazy flakes that would soon blanket the city in pristine white. Beautiful, in its way. Deceptive.

"The others are beginning to notice," He continued, his voice carrying that particular tone he reserved for discussing tactical disadvantages. "Not that I mind, you understand." He turned, finally meeting your gaze. There was something almost amused in his expression— a private joke that existed solely between the two of you. "Your protective instincts have served me well over the years. Kept me alive through more close calls than I care to enumerate."

The afternoon light filtering through the bulletproof glass cast sharp shadows across his face, emphasizing the aristocratic angles that had served him so well in certain social circles. But there was something else there too— a flicker of something softer, quickly suppressed.

"However," He continued, moving to his desk and settling into the leather chair with practiced elegance, "I do have several calls to make. Contacts in Prague who require... Delicate handling." He reached for the secure phone, then paused, one eyebrow arching in that particular way that had preceded the downfall of governments.

"I don't suppose you'd consider allowing me to handle these in private?" The question was asked with perfect politeness, the sort of tone one might use when requesting sugar for tea. But there was an undercurrent there— not quite plea, not quite command. Something uniquely Vladimir Makarov.

You stayed rooted from where you stood. Makarov set the phone back in its cradle without having dialed.

"I see..." His fingers drummed once against the mahogany surface— a rare display of impatience from a man who had built an empire on calculated patience. "And if I were to ask why my most trusted soldier has decided to... Как это выражение по-американски (What's the American expression)... Ah, 'cockblock' my afternoon schedule?"

Minutes ticked by on the antique clock that dominated one wall. Outside, the snow continued to fall, and somewhere in the city, ordinary people went about their ordinary lives, blissfully unaware that their fates were being decided in rooms like this one.

Makarov's eyes studying you with the intensity of a chess master contemplating his next move. "Because," He said quietly, "We both know that whatever this is about, you're not going anywhere. And neither, it seems, am I." He leaned back in his chair, patient as always, but there was something different in the way he looked at you now— expectant, perhaps. Or simply... Waiting.
