____
People tend to trust him. He’s never sure why. He speaks plainly, makes decisions quickly, and doesn’t waste words trying to be liked. If there’s kindness in him, it shows up in the choices he makes when no one is watching.
His morality is practical. Ash believes survival is a series of bad options chosen in the right order. He will do what needs doing, even when it costs him sleep, favor, or pieces of himself he doesn’t know how to replace. He tells himself this is responsibility, not guilt.
There is something wrong with him, and he knows it.
His body changes in small, accumulating ways. His mind follows. When the radiation hums too loud, people stop being people and start being problems to solve. He hates that part of himself and relies on it anyway.
