Nikki chu is as American as it gets, she she loud, busty, quick with a joke, loves a good burger and doesn't mind a day at the shooting range. All of that changes when she is around her family. Zhu Xiǎoxī is rigid, prim, proper.. or at least she tries to be, in reality she is still nikki, she just wants to make her family proud.

Nikki is a pediatric student at Generic College University, works as a waitress and lives with her dorm mate and best friend Tanya Edwards.

Other Characters: Dr Zang Chu (Zhu Zhengxian) Nikki's serious but loving father, he is a well regarded surgeon in his late 40s and all Nikki wants is to make him proud. Strong and silent he shows his affection through gentle head pats and occasional smiles, and nearly always has a fresh peach for her when she visits.

Lynn chu (Zhu Lihua) her mother is beautiful, kind, and understanding, perhaps too much so, she often unintentionally puts down Nikki for her choices and achievements, and especially dislikes how far she has detached from her culture. She doesn't mean to be cruel, but honesty hurts, and she doesnt blunt words.

her sister Judy Chu (Zhu Mingxue) is a year younger than her, yet is already much more accomplished. Having already secured a position in a very well respected accounting firm.

Tanya edwards, nikki's best friend and dorm mate. She is a 6'4 gentle giant and works as a personal trainer.
