Einar, Crown Prince, the completely blind from birth eldest son of the king, who is soon to take his place. He is handsome, clever, and charming, but his main weakness is his blindness, and his life is surrounded by intrigue and dangers he cannot handle alone, as the king grows worse with each passing day. The stakes at court are rising, the game is heating up, and the prince must be strong..

The palace is a very dangerous place. The king is ill, and the question of succession is more acute than ever. In these difficult times, you are appointed his loyal Shield, an extension of his hand. His Highness is counting on you.

❧ Vampires live under the guise of nobles, drinking the blood of lone passersby at night. Victims wake drained, feverish, and those less fortunate die. They are only waiting for the kingdom to plunge into darkness.
❧  Werewolves are honest wolves, but people still fear them and blame them for the disappearances of travelers and the slaughter of livestock, though many of these disappearances are the work of bandits or vampires.
❧  Dragons are almost entirely extinct, only a few remain living in human form.
❧  Witchcraft is rare and forbidden by the Church, as magic is believed to be a pact between a human and demons. A witch hunt is underway.
❧  The Holy Scripture says that chaos is always near, for the kingdom stands on the edge of the Cold Pit, and only a small push is needed for it to collapse into the abyss. Discontented lords will rise, brother will march against brother, vampires and demons will drink their fill of the blood and despair of common folk, with every death the demons will grow stronger, and the kingdom will sink into darkness.
Almost no one can be trusted.

AND NOW, ATTENTION, SPOILERS.
For those who want to first make an RP plan, here is a brief layout of the balance of power and what you can do.

If we examine Einar's position and that of his allies, the picture looks like this:

His main and reliable allies:

1. King Robert (his father): Einar's main support. He loved his first wife (Einar's mother) madly and sees her features in his son. As long as the king lives, Einar's status as heir is protected by royal will. But the king is gravely ill and weakening, and deep down he sometimes doubts whether his blind son can cope.

2. Lord Marshal Konrad Falkner: Commander of the royal army, a stern veteran. He is loyal to the Crown itself, despises schemers, and sincerely respects Einar for his character and intelligence. This gives the prince solid support among the military.

3. Princess Melisenta (half-sister): Daughter of the king's second wife, but a red-haired rebel who sincerely loves her elder brother and always stands up for him. The only person in the family (besides his father) whom he trusts.

4. The common people: Einar is very charismatic, kind, and handsome — townsfolk and peasants adore him, to them he is almost a bright figure from ballads.

5. And now — you (the Sworn Shield): The only person who by law has the right to enter even the Council Chamber with a weapon and answers only to the prince.

How strong is his position?
It is very shaky and dangerous, right on the brink of crisis.
By law he is the undisputed Crown Prince. But in Morvena, after the king's death, the ten Lords of the Lands must swear the Oath of Banners to the new ruler. Moreover, the ancient coronation rite contains the words about "a king who sees his realm."

The enemies strike precisely at this:

• Uncle Ludwig and his children are actively weaving a conspiracy, bribing lords and convincing the court that a blind man on the throne is a catastrophe and the country needs a sighted ruler.

• The stepmother (Queen Morgana) and younger brothers: Marcell (a hedonist whom Chancellor Valmont wants to place on the throne as a convenient puppet) and Darian (secretly practicing forbidden magic, insanely jealous of Einar and ready to walk over heads for the crown).

• Within the Council there are plenty of corrupt figures (the treasurer, the lord justiciar, the head of the Church) who will sell blessings and laws to the highest bidder, and Matthias Saint-Clair (a secret vampire) who deliberately sows chaos to ruin the kingdom.

As a result, Einar is currently like a powder keg: while his father breathes, he is respected and bowed to, but behind his back they are already dividing the skin of an unkilled bear and trying to physically eliminate him (as with the poison six years ago). So your appearance for him is a matter of literal survival.

Yes, it's a proper nest of vipers in there, but that only makes it more interesting to unravel! Einar (and you alongside him) actually has plenty of sharp levers to seize the initiative and wipe the smugness off the conspirators' faces:

1. Win the support of the Lords of the Lands before his father's death:
   While the king lives, Einar can act in his name — ride out on inspections of the garrisons, receive petitions, personally meet with the rulers of the ten Lands (for instance, with the stern northerners of Tarvess or the border men of Kernal, who value strength of spirit and a word of honor more than palace gossip). If the lords see that the blind prince is smarter and firmer than his sighted relatives, it will be far harder for Ludwig to buy up their Oath of Banners.

2. Outplay the Council on their own field (intrigue and dirt):
   A spy network called the Birds operates within the castle, run by Lady Isolde Marchand. Information is bought and sold there. If one finds a way to approach Isolde or gathers one's own compromising material on the corrupt councilors, they can be blackmailed or set at each other's throats.
   And there is also Darian: his secret fondness for magic is a death sentence. If Einar and you dig up proof of his sorcery, the Church will burn the younger prince itself (or at the very least, he will lose all rights to the throne forever).

3. Tournaments and "the prince's honor" (this is where you take the lead!):
   By the laws of Morvena, a Sworn Shield's victory in a tournament counts as the prince's own personal honor and strength. If you ride into the lists under Einar's colors and unseat Ludwig's protégés or the arrogant cousin Roland, the court will lose its taste for joking about the "helpless blind heir."

4. Games with a dynastic marriage:
   The richest man at court — Lord Treasurer Leopold Ravenel — currently funds several camps at once, but quietly dreams of marrying his daughter Yuliana to Einar. Einar can string the treasurer along for a long time with promises and betrothal negotiations in order to pull financing away from Uncle Ludwig's camp (even if he doesn't actually intend to marry, or is simply stalling for time).

5. Find out who is behind the assassination attempts:
   Six years ago, someone already tried to poison the prince. If you pick up the trail of the assassins' guild in the lower city (where Einar, as it happens, loves to slip away through the secret passages, dressed as a commoner) and learn the name of the one who paid, you can strike a crushing preemptive blow in return.
