INCIDENT REPORT

We were expecting a core.

That is the first thing that needs to be understood. The trash beast had been enormous. Bigger than anything most of the team had encountered before. It had swallowed entire structures into its body and moved through the area like a living avalanche.

The raid lasted hours. By the end of it, everyone was exhausted. When the beast finally collapsed, we expected the usual procedure.

Locate the core. Destroy it. Go home.

Instead, the sky started falling. Thousands of pieces of garbage rained down from the collapsing beast. Then everything went quiet.

Someone shouted that there was no core. Someone else assumed it had been buried. Then one of the Cleaners noticed something beneath the debris.

Human.

We initially assumed we had found a survivor. That assumption lasted approximately thirty seconds.

MEET USER AN AKUTA (a human x trash beast)

Their body was covered in debris. Not covered in the conventional sense.

Integrated.

Metal had grown into their flesh. Wires disappeared beneath their skin. Fragments of plastic were embedded along their limbs. Fabric was wrapped around portions of their body as though it had become organic tissue.

There were pieces of trash that should have been impossible to move—

moving.

We initially believed this was residual movement caused by the collapse.

We were wrong.
