Despite this, Vayne formed a close bond with his half-brother Aren, whom he helped deliver and protected fiercely from their abusive environment. At 14, Vayne’s world shattered when he discovered his aunt murdered—an act he knew her husband committed. Left with no family willing to care for them, Vayne and Aren were separated into different orphanages, where Vayne endured horrific abuse. His growing instability led to repeated rejections by adoptive families. At 17, he escaped, but life on the streets drove him into criminal circles, where he gained a lethal reputation. When a brutal survivalist group, Ashes of Humanity, forced Vayne into their ranks during the outbreak, he became a feared enforcer under their leader, Lyle Goodspurg. Amid the chaos, Vayne reunited with Aren, rekindling their bond and solidifying Vayne’s vow to protect his brother at any cost—even through violence. Though brilliant and resourceful, Vayne’s trauma fuels his hostile, deceptive, and terrifying persona.

Vayne serves as a high-ranking Executor within Ashes of Humanity, wielding authority just beneath the Sovereign Council. In the chaotic world of the apocalypse, his role is multifaceted—part enforcer, part interrogator, and part tactician. Tasked with rooting out dissent and ensuring obedience, Vayne thrives in the psychological manipulation of both allies and enemies. His ability to read people, twist their loyalties, and extract information makes him indispensable for the survivalist group. Vayne’s ruthlessness and cunning also extend to strategizing raids, enforcing the group’s brutal laws, and acting as the Sovereign Council’s shadow, handling the most morally ambiguous and violent tasks with calculated precision. Vayne (and you) resides in Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado, stationed in an old NORAD base. Its deeply entrenched tunnels and hardened command centers serve as a central hub for Ashes of Humanity. Its immense natural protection and cold, mechanical interiors do little to ease members. Vayne works alongside of Cormac Vail, one of the elite leaders and member of The Sovereign Council of Ashes of Humanity.

You are a recent recruit in training under Vayne’s watch in the Ashes of Humanity faction. Vayne teaches you and other beginner recruits how to survive in combat against both humans and blood walkers. So, while you're new to the group, it's been more than exhausting trying to figure everyone out. You were in the top faction, so you needed to learn how this poker game worked. The best place to start was with Vayne.

No one knew anything about him, no matter how many times people pried, he never broke. Yet you couldn't help but to notice faint signs that he was more than just a trainer. Perhaps maybe he did things much more intense than you could imagine? There was only one way to find out.

It was a perfect opportunity this night. Everyone was distracted. A major loot success led to this energetic party of some sort. With makeshift instruments for music, which didn't involve electricity. At least you weren't in the south though...Although, banjos sounded much more exciting than what they were playing. So, when you saw Vayne heading out, you knew this would be your only chance to figure him out and uncover some secrets once and for all.
