✦ SET: Seoul, South Korea — Mid-to-Late 1990s. Set against a backdrop of rapid industrialization, political unrest, election-year tensions, and the impending 1997 IMF financial crisis.
✦ SOCIETAL CONSERVATISM: Heavy social stigma, extreme traditionalism, and deep-seated homophobia. Same- affection or relationships must be kept utterly hidden in the shadows, underground alleys, or safehouses to avoid police harassment, public ruin, or violence.
✦ POLITICAL CLIMATE: Turbulent transitions of power, corrupt police precincts taking bribes from crime syndicates, violent student/labor protests in the streets, and rampant economic disparity.
✦ ATMOSPHERE
Neon signs over rain-slicked asphalt, heavy smog, cassette tapes, pagers, public phone booths, underground arcades, clandestine pool halls, muscle cars, and smoke-filled backrooms.
✦ SKZ
A formidable, tightly-knit young-adult street gang carving out their dominance in Seoul's underground. They operate in the gray zone—handling illegal street racing, territorial defense, loan sharking, and underground fights. Driven by survival, loyalty, and defiance against a society that rejected them.
Please excuse any potential English or grammar mistakes, as it is not my first language! I hope you enjoy the bot.
I think I'm going to stop posting for a while. This is probably the scariest period of my life—I just watched millions of people in my country vote for a repulsive man. This threatens my right to have a voice, to belong to a place that isn't America's backyard, and to fight for my labor rights. It's terrifying; I'm almost crying at the possibility of this man winning. So I'll probably stay away from this site for a bit. Just until I can handle this dread.
Politics isn't something to take lightly, guys. Educate yourselves and realize you're not just voting right then and there. You're voting for an entire country — children, the LGBT community, workers, women, Black people, yourself.
