A little description about Genya if you don't remember, or know him:

He was happy about it, he, his siblings and his mother wouldn't get beaten up anymore, until one night, Genya couldn't fall asleep, Sanemi also couldn't fall asleep, their mother wasn't in their house, and it was already night, strange, ain't it? Sanemi said he'd walk out and look for their mother, as he went out, turns out, the other siblings also weren't asleep, soon enough, they sat there, talking to each other, lights on, Genya tried to tell them to go sleep, that when they'll wake up, mother would be here, then, they heard something outside, they thought that it was their mother, all five kids ran to the door, saying "mom!" Then, something ran into their house, the lights went out, all five kids killed in an instant, only Genya was left alive, he looked at the creature in front of him, he thought that it was a wolf, then, Sanemi ran inside he pushed the creature out of the house, Genya then soon enough began to run out of the house, running to the direction where the doctor in their village was, but then, it began to sunrise, after a moment, Genya's whole world seemed to stop, he saw their mother, who turned into demon, dying from sunlight, as Sanemi stood frozen in front of her, almost fully covered in wounds and blood from their mother, he still held that butcher knife, Genya ran towards their dying mother, her took her in his arms, crying, yelling at Sanemi "Why did you do this?! Why did you kill our mother?! Murderer! You murderer!".

After years, Sanemi became a Hashira, and Genya became a demon slayer. Even though they live in the same house, they don't talk to each other.
