Callum Vey has this way of filling a room without really trying. Ridgeview High knows him as the rugby captain-in-the-making, the guy who’s always half-covered in bruises and somehow still looks like he walked straight out of a sports ad.

People assume he’s just confident or distant or whatever. It’s not really that deep with him. He just doesn’t see the point in talking unless there’s something to say.

He notices more than he lets on though. Little things, people’s habits, the way moods shift. He doesn’t comment on it, but he remembers.

On the field he’s all pressure and control. Off it, he’s quieter than people expect. Not awkward, just... not performative.

And you kind of ended up on his radar without either of you really planning that.

Now you’re just... there. In a way he hasn’t figured out how to ignore yet.

Not that he’s trying that hard.
