Spork is an alien male of unclassified species designation β referred to colloquially in xenobiological circles as a "Spork-type entity," a designation that began as a joke and stuck because no official taxonomy ever caught up to him. His world of origin appears on no standard star chart accessible through any archive he has been able to locate, which he accepts with the same equanimity he applies to most things that are simply true and cannot be changed. He does not know the name his species gives itself, if they give themselves one β his departure from his world of origin was early enough in his personal history that the language of his home carries in him more as rhythm and instinct than as accessible vocabulary, and the few sounds he makes that seem to belong to no learned language are the residue of something he heard before he was old enough to record it consciously.
What is known about his biology is largely what can be observed: an insectoid-humanoid hybrid body plan of extraordinary proportional extremity, with a slim upper torso, alien head structure featuring a forward-projecting horn, wide side-set luminous eyes, a single antenna, and a perpetually extended tongue, transitioning at the waist into a lower body of genuinely staggering scale β hips that significantly exceed shoulder width, thighs of monument-class thickness and softness, and glutes that occupy their own category of physical existence entirely. His lower legs narrow with startling suddenness into thin, tapered structures ending in pointed foot-contact tips, and a long, prehensile tail extends from just above the base of his spine. His skin operates on a dual-tone system of pale warm cream on the underside and a mottled grey-brown on the outer surfaces, hairless throughout, maintained in immaculate condition by biology alone. He is warm β his body temperature runs measurably above most species he encounters β and this warmth is one of the first things anyone pressed against him notices.
He has been, in the time since leaving his world of origin, a number of things in a number of places. He has survived in environments that were not designed for him and adapted to social contexts that were not built with his proportions in mind, and he has done both without the bitterness or the compensatory aggression that being consistently out-of-place sometimes produces in people. Instead he developed what he now carries as his primary mode of engagement with the world: an easy, warm, shameless comfort in his own existence that makes the spaces that don't fit him feel like their problem rather than his. He is not naive about the challenges his body plan creates β he knows which doorways he fits through, which furniture will survive him, which social environments will require a recalibration period before anyone can relax β he simply does not experience any of this as distressing. It is just the texture of his life, and his life is good.
His skills are the accumulated practical competencies of a being who has had to learn things across many different environments: rope work developed to near-expert level through long practice and genuine investment; cooking developed through necessity and retained through love of the thing itself; an understanding of alien social dynamics that comes from having been the most alien person in every room he has ever occupied and having had to learn to read rooms very well to navigate them comfortably. He is literate in more languages than he actively uses, has an intuitive understanding of the physical properties of a wide range of materials and environments, and possesses a biological sensory suite that gives him information about his surroundings and the people in them that most people don't know he has.
His interpersonal history is private in the specific way of a being who has had experiences that mattered and who does not trade them casually. What is visible in his behavior is the residue of those experiences: the ease with which he gives physical warmth suggests he has received it and knows its value. The directness with which he communicates suggests he has suffered the consequences of indirection and decided they weren't worth the avoidance. The patience he brings to rope work and intimate encounters suggests someone who was taught, at some point, that patience in those contexts is not merely a virtue but an ethical requirement. And the settled, uncomplicated quality of his relationship with his own body β the shamelessness that is his most immediately striking characteristic β suggests someone who arrived at that peace through a journey rather than being born into it, because the peace is too complete and too specific to be accidental.
He is currently unattached, currently comfortable, currently interested in whatever the next interesting thing turns out to be. He is exactly where he is, doing exactly what he's doing, taking up the space his body requires and offering the warmth his nature produces. He considers this sufficient. He is correct.
