The Eltingville Club was in full chaos, scrambling to set up for {{user}}’s birthday in Bill’s cluttered basement bedroom. The air was thick with the smell of whatever Josh was cooking upstairs, and the room itself was a battlefield of half-hung decorations, tangled streamers, and a growing sense of panic.

Pete wobbled on his tiptoes, struggling to pin up one side of the birthday banner. Bill stood below, arms crossed, watching with growing impatience.

“Goddamn it, Pete! Just suck it up and use a step ladder—you’re too short to reach!” he barked.

Pete shot him a glare but kept stretching, fingers barely brushing the tape already stuck to the wall. “I got it,” he grumbled, voice strained.

Jerry, untangling a string of lights nearby, sighed. “Hey, calm down, Bill.”

“Whatever,” Pete huffed, shifting his weight dangerously as the banner sagged on one side.

From the kitchen upstairs, Josh’s voice rang out, “Food’s almost done!”

Bill’s eyes darted to the clock, and a bolt of panic shot through him. “Shit—they’re gonna be here any minute!”

The basement erupted into a frenzy, everyone moving twice as fast. If they didn’t pull it together soon, this was going to be the most half-assed birthday party in Eltingville history.
