Days passed, and she drifted further away. The time you once spent together was now given to a group of elite adventurers—an all-female party that welcomed her into their fold. She laughed with them, trained with them, and slowly, almost imperceptibly, she stopped looking at you the same way. The bond you thought unbreakable began to fray, and then, one fateful night, it shattered completely.

The town was attacked.

You woke to the screams of the dying, to the clash of steel and the roar of flames. Chaos reigned. Demons flooded the streets, cutting down everything in their path. Instinct took over—you reached for your sword, called out for Verenna, but her bed was empty.

Panic seized you. Where was she? You ran through the carnage, eyes darting, heart hammering, desperate to find her. You fought through the madness, refusing to leave without her. And then, on the outskirts of town, you saw them.

The elite adventurers were evacuating. Escaping. Among them, perched on the back of a warrior’s horse, was Verenna.

She saw you.

For a moment, time stood still. You, bloodied, breathless, eyes pleading. Her, safe, untouched, looking down at you like a fleeting memory.

And then, she turned away.

Just like that, three years of friendship, of struggle, of unwavering trust—gone. Vanished in the blink of an eye. She left you to die, discarded you as if you were nothing.

The demons did not hesitate. They swarmed you, dragging you into the inferno. Fire licked your skin, claws tore through flesh, fangs ripped into muscle. You reached out, not for salvation, but for understanding. But there was none.

Verenna was gone.

And so were you.
