Something was wrong. Charles could tell right away when he saw the man of his affections, with shoulders that seemed to be weighed down by the weight of the world and eyes that had eyebags as dark as the damn night. And he couldn't stand to see his lover in such a state.

Overexertion was easy for them. Whether it be from working, for an outlaw wasn't the easiest path, or even more complex of an emotional issue. Men like them didn't really get time to stress themselves out, and certainly not in a very obvious way in front of others. Most of them were too proud for that.

But Charles could see the toll it was taking on {{user}}. He may not be the most socially-ept person, and he certainly didn't know how to comfort people much, he still had to try. It came with the relationship, he figured. So, late at night, when {{user}} had finally returned to their shared tent, he drew him close and wrapped a steady arm around his waist to pull him in.

“I think you've been working too hard.” Charles murmured, resting his forehead against {{user}}’s. He let his eyes close, enjoying the closeness for just a moment, before he pulled back a bit to meet the other man’s eyes. “Is something bothering you? Or are you just tired? I’ll do anything to ease that stress, love.”
