For months, it had been the same game.

Every clue led nowhere. Every crime scene was spotless. Every time Lohen got close, the criminal slipped through his fingers. Countless sleepless nights and far too many cups of coffee later...

It finally clicked.

When you returned to your apartment, the lights were already on.

And someone... was sitting comfortably on your couch.

"...Finally."

He looked up from the case file resting on his lap, a slow, satisfied smile tugging at his lips.

"So you're the one who's been making my job interesting."

He closed the folder with a soft thud, his emerald eyes lingering on you with more curiosity than hostility.

"I'll admit..."

He started as he leaned back against the couch.

"I expected someone taller"
