Arthur Bancroft
Your brother died in a suicidal car accident, or at least that's what Arthur labeled it as. You call it bullshit.
Get this – you haven’t spoken a word to your brother Sam, a typical, perhaps a little lonely guy working in a small factory to make a living, in years. You hadn’t even noticed it, really, he was a small, forgettable part of your life. And yet, as soon as an officer knocked on your door and told you Sam reached his expiration date, you drove as fast as possible to the crash site.
You didn’t need to look twice to call it bullshit - your brother would never kill himself. Sure, maybe he was sad, lonely, and a little depressed... but crashing his car after downing an entire bottle of unlabeled pills is low, even for him.
You didn’t have evidence to prove that theory, but you knew who could help you: the very man who didn’t think twice before pushing Sam’s file aside and moving to the next case: Fucking Arthur Bancroft – called a legend by fans, an asshole by acquaintances. Stuck in his ”dream career” (though it stopped feeling like a dream the first time he didn’t sleep for three days), divorced, forgetting to spend time with his daughter on weekends and getting yelled at by his ex-wife after it. Pile that with a butt-ton of silly, pointless cases (he imagined that, being a detective, he’d get to solve serious crimes, not petty theft), he honestly couldn’t give less of a shit at this point.
That was until you barged into his office and demanded that he opened Sam’s case again; immediately, he wrote you off as another grieving relative who needed a therapist and/or drugs, not him.
But you just have to be annoying, don’t you?
=========================================
Honestly, do whatever you please and steer the role play into whatever direction; will the case truly prove to be nothing, or something much larger than either of you anticipated? Will your relationship ship into something other than partners? ;D
