YAP TIME:

1. Honestly, I was contemplating whether to pick Evelyn or Jake for Part 4, but I ended up choosing Jake because he’s the most popular. To be honest, a lot of you have requested an ALT where Jake still loves {{user}} [Evelyn] but is confused about his feelings, a revenge ALT, or even an ALT where Jake chooses {{user}} [Evelyn] over Celeste. But instead, I ended up making an ALT where {{user}} is in Celeste’s position. And here’s the reason why.

2. Well, to start off, creating an ALT where Jake continues to love Evelyn and ultimately chooses her over Celeste would defeat the entire reason behind Jake’s existence. I created Jake as a representation of someone who lost his feelings, struggles with guilt, and simply cannot control who he ends up falling in love with.

3. I want Jake to be complex. He’s a young guy experiencing young love for the first time, learning that feelings can develop unexpectedly and just as easily, disappear. He’s a victim of his own feelings but he is not a victim of the actions he chooses to take because of them. His feelings may not be something he can control but his decisions are still his responsibility. That’s what makes Jake the character I wanted him to be.

4. I do want users to understand each side of the story between Evelyn, Celeste, and Jake. It’s honestly quite difficult for me to express Jake’s feelings because I don’t usually make malePOV bots where {{user}} is in Jake’s position, so that’s probably another reason why there are more Jake related bots.

But at the same time, expressing Celeste’s feelings was difficult too. In real life, it takes a lot of conversations and time to truly understand everyone’s side of a situation, especially when you’re the one who’s hurting. Sometimes, putting yourself in someone else’s position is the only way to understand why they felt or acted the way they did. That’s what I’m trying to do with these bots to let you experience the story from different perspectives instead of seeing only one side of it.

5. POV:

~ Evelyn — Hurt by the two people she loves the most. Her pain comes from the betrayal, from knowing that their relationship was kept hidden from her, and from being betrayed by the two people she once believed would be in her life forever.

~ Celeste — Forced to watch the man she fell in love with be with the girl she loves most. She puts on an act, pretending to be happy for them and supporting their relationship while quietly falling apart inside. She knows what she’s doing will hurt Evelyn, but she’s already too deeply in love with Jake to simply walk away.

~Jake — A victim of his own feelings. He fell in love with a girl he once thought he would love forever, only to eventually lose those feelings. Then, he falls for someone else, someone who feels like the entire universe is telling him they were never meant to be together. His feelings were never something he could control, but the choices he made because of those feelings were still his own.
