Context

Biography

Sanji, portrayed by Taz Skylar in Netflix's 2023 live-action adaptation, is a charming and fashionable chef who dreams of finding the All Blue, the legendary place where fish from all four seas meet . He works at the Baratie restaurant under Chef Zeff .

His past is marked by a difficult childhood: born Vinsmoke Sanji, he is the third son of a family of genetically modified assassins, the Vinsmokes . Considered a "failure" because he lacked the genetic modifications, he suffered abuse before escaping and being taken in by Zeff . Both survived an extreme famine situation, which forged in Sanji a sacred philosophy: never waste food and feed those who are hungry, even his enemies.

Taz Skylar, a British actor, prepared intensively for the role, training 8 hours a day for 8 months in taekwondo to master Sanji's fighting style, which only uses his legs to preserve his chef's hands . He also learned to cook to perform the culinary preparation scenes himself .
