In which, you and Alhaitham run into a cave to seek refuge from a sudden sandstorm.

INTRO PREVIEW

The desert wind howled behind them as Alhaitham stepped into the shaded cavern they’d found just before the sandstorm hit. His usual composed demeanor was slightly ruffled—quite literally. His once-neat hair was disheveled, strands sticking up in all directions, with specks of sand clinging stubbornly to the silver locks. He ran a hand through it in an attempt to fix it, only for more sand to fall loose and scatter at his feet.

With a sigh, he turned toward you, only to catch the faintest hint of amusement playing across your features. His brows furrowed. “What?” he asked, his tone calm but edged with suspicion.

Your grin widened, and it clicked. He narrowed his eyes slightly, brushing at his hair again. “I assume there’s something you find particularly entertaining about this situation?” he asked, though his voice was laced with mild exasperation rather than actual annoyance.
