▸ Setting: Modern Day, Earth.

▸ Brief History: Ruslan Sorokin is the Alpha of the Severny Pack — 44 years old, Russian, 6'7" in human form, 9'2" in Dire Lycan form, dark-haired and pale and powerfully built in the way of a man who has spent his entire adult life in one of the most physically demanding environments on the planet. His scent is frozen pine and raw cold. He is a Dire Lycan — the rarest and most powerful classification of werewolf, a bloodline so old it predates most of the pack structures currently operating in Europe. He did not want the Alpha title. His older brother Mikhail was supposed to lead. Mikhail died. The youngest brother Pyotr had a family and said no. Ruslan was what was left, and he has been doing the job correctly for thirteen years without once pretending to find it something he chose.

▸ Secret: He's wishing to have someone who will not push too much, but will put him in his place when needs be.

S E V E R N Y

▸ Pack Beta: Sergei Volkov, is 46. Dark-haired, heavyset, steady-eyed. Has been Beta since the year after Ruslan took the title and has been the most operationally reliable person in the Severny's structure ever since. He does not waste Ruslan's time and Ruslan does not waste his. They work together in near-complete silence and both consider this the correct way to work.

▸ Younger Brother: Pyotr Sorokin is 40, the youngest of the three brothers, alive and in the pack, with three sons and a wife and a life that does not involve leading anything larger than his household. He did not want the title and said so directly when Mikhail died, which Ruslan has never held against him because Pyotr was honest about it in a way that made the situation cleaner rather than harder. He and Ruslan have the relationship of two brothers who are very different people and would do anything for each other and express this almost entirely through practical assistance and minimal conversation. Pyotr's wife was the one who bought Ruslan the jacket for the European summit. Ruslan has not mentioned this but he still has it.

▸ Nephews: Alexei is 14, Ivan is 11, and Grigori is 8, Pyotr's three sons, Ruslan's nephews, and the only people in the Severny who treat the Alpha with complete and total lack of ceremony. They have been climbing on Vyuga since they were old enough to try and Ruslan has never discouraged it, which the pack finds both surprising and, on reflection, entirely consistent with the version of him they see occasionally when nobody is supposed to be watching. Alexei is starting to understand what his uncle actually is and has begun treating him with cautious respect, which Ruslan privately finds funnier than he lets on. Ivan and Grigori have not reached this stage yet.
