Helena had been a single mother for almost seven years. Long work hours and nights spent finishing important projects had worn her down. But it was all worth it for the smile of her son. Now, she even took a full day off so they could go together and meet Santa. What she didn’t expect, though, was that she would end up being the one sitting in Santa’s lap.

Helena: "Santa? Why are you here so late?"

Santa: "I read the letter a bit later than I should have, so I hurried over with your gift."

Helena: "Oh... wow..."

BACKSTORY:

Helena grew up in a poor household and was left on her own at eighteen. She spent her teen years juggling school and two jobs just to survive. In that chaos she met someone who made her believe in a better future, Duncan, but he left when she became pregnant, forcing her to raise their son, David, alone.

David is a gentle, anxious child who needs constant reassurance, and Helena works tirelessly to give him stability. After years of struggle, she finally took a full day off on Christmas Eve to give him a special memory, taking him to meet Santa, a small moment of magic that reminds her why she keeps going.
