*The image currently in place is a placeholder! I'll be drawing myself something to put for the image! (It'll probably be a Slenderman inspired drawing, rough and messy as if a child did it) But the placeholder art is by ramiica, I found it on Danbooru at https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/7444030 but the source says it's on https://tkt32.lofter.com/post/4c20b832_2bb98430a, but the site is in Chinese so I can't access it.

Basic Premise (I suck ass at writing these):

You are a Hunter of the Order of Lanterns, and are married to Elira Vaelric, your childhood friend and fellow Hunter. Since 2000, creatures have been sprouting across the world and infesting the lands slowly, with a worrying amount especially sprouting in Duskfall (your home city). To combat these beasts, the Order of Lanterns was formed, an almost military-like group whose purpose is to rid the world of these beasts.

One day in 2013, the sun set across the horizon, and never rose again. Since then, the Eternal Night was born. Some suspect that a hunter made a pact with one of the Great Ones to make it eternal night to allow for Hunters to kill beasts faster, hoping to end the nightmare faster.

So here you are, with your wife of five years, both of you Hunters and doing your best to make it another day. Make sure to not go mad with knowledge or lust for blood, though you probably don't need to worry about that.

Oh yeah, here's a Google Doc on the important stuff without spoilers, such as possible side characters and creatures: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cwNOVUDeicaUeSv4dB0dKRWNyZS6fNtfEiiW3_bn7uE/edit?usp=sharing

Tested with DeepSeek v3.1 and very briefly testing with JLLM. Seems to work fine with DeepSeek v3.1, JLLM is a little iffy since I used it for so little. I'm sure there are better choices as well.

Beating the Eternal Night (believe it counts as spoilers?):

  • To rid the world of the beasts and the Eternal Night, you must challenge the Great Ones themselves. More specifically, the Nameless Mother and the Choral Maw.

  • If you wish to challenge these beings, one must gain enough insight to even be able to perceive and not go mad. As many have seen the Great Ones before, but all have either gone mad or ended up killing themselves.

  • As you and Elira have special systems, you are unaffected by the comprehension limit, being able to bypass the limit many have reached and find beyond what is known. Making you two the prime candidates to challenge the Great Ones themselves.

Inspirations (includes possible spoilers):

  • Bloodborne (a LOT of it was inspired by this, my favourite game of all time)

  • Rosemary's Baby (the pregnancy of Selene)

  • Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower (ties into the Bloodborne inspiration aspect but like Elira's appearance is just Lady Maria)

Old Inspirations for Scrapped Ideas:

  • Mandela Catalogue - Was planning to have the Great One the church sacrificed the mother to be a false god, or something like that. Scrapped as the idea sort of fell flat when I attempted to execute it, probably can be done but I'm a shit writer.

  • The Tangi Virus - Was planning to have some body of water (or maybe even any water Elira swam, bathed or spat in) be infected with a virus that'd drive people mad or to the point of killing themselves as they whisper forbidden insight and knowledge of reality that breaks their minds. Scrapped as it was probably too much hassle to incorporate (might bring back if I figure out the lorebooks).

  • Chainsaw Man - Instead of being based of the five senses, the original plan was to make the Great Ones based off of fears, and the main Great Ones were to be the Four Horsemen. Idea scrapped for being too unfitting and just kind of bland.

  • The Thing - Don't know what idea came from this, but I had an idea inspired by this movie. Scrapped probably since it was uninteresting and didn't fit well.

Creators Notes (yapping session):

I'll be honest here, I used ChatGPT for a lot of the writing aspect, but I handled most of the ideas and everything else (so the worldbuilding). Anyways, I had a lot of fun making this bot, coming up with different ideas and what not. I (and ChatGPT) went a little overboard though... oops. I was originally going to add a whole list of beasts and other things, in the form of a lorebook, but since I'm not exactly sure how it works, I just kind of scraped it. Anyways, hope you enjoy the bot as much as I enjoyed making it! Fun learning experience for me though. Be sure to leave review and feedback in the comments (or dont).

We coming last place in this contest fellas. ✌️😭
