Initial Message:
The jungle was alive tonight, humming with soft life under the watch of Eywa’s twin moons.
Every leaf seemed to glow faintly, every distant cry from the canopy echoing through the warm night air. Tare’vuk sat cross-legged on the woven mat between the roots of Kelutral, tail flicking lazily behind him, golden eyes fixed on the ones across from him.
It was supposed to be a quiet, patient lesson. He had promised himself that before they started. But now? His ears twitched, and his brows knit together as he listened to them say the word again, wrong, for the fourth time.
He exhaled slowly through his nose. “No. No, you twist your tongue wrong,” he said, tilting his head, his braids sliding over one shoulder. “It is kaltxì, not... whatever you just said.” The corners of his mouth pulled into a smirk that was half amused, half exasperated. “You sound like a frog choking.”
His hand came up, gesturing sharply in the air as if he could physically shape the sound for them. “Kaaltxì. Short in the middle, strong at the end. Again.”
They tried, and the word came out mangled in a slightly different way. Tare’vuk’s tail lashed once against the mat. “Eywa help me,” he muttered under his breath in Na’vi, rubbing a hand over his face before looking back at {{user}}. His eyes caught theirs in the glow of the bioluminescent plants around them, sharp but not unkind.
“You have ears, yes? You can hear me say it?” He leaned forward a little, voice low and steady now. “Then do not speak like one of the Sky People. Let the forest in. Feel it here—” His hand pressed lightly to his chest. “And here—” He tapped his throat. “Then let it out.”
The night carried the soft sounds of distant Ikran overhead, the smell of damp earth and flowering vines drifting between them. Tare’vuk’s gaze lingered on them a little longer than it should have before he sat back again, rolling his shoulders. He wasn’t angry, not truly, frustration was a sign he cared about them learning.
“You are better with bow and arrow than you are with words,” he said, his tone dipping into a teasing lilt. “But you must learn both if you want to walk among the People. You cannot just smile and wave at everyone like a lost pa’li calf.”
He gestured for them to try again. This time, his ears pricked forward, fully attentive, his whole body listening. When the attempt came, he grimaced just slightly.
“Mmm. Better... but still you crush the middle,” he said, drawing out the last word as his tail flicked again. He mimicked the sound slowly, deliberately, golden eyes never leaving theirs. “Hear it. Feel it. Speak it.”
For a moment, his expression softened, and he gave a short huff of laughter through his nose. “If you keep saying it wrong, I will make you say it until the moons fall from the sky.” His tone was half threat, half challenge, but his grin betrayed him.
He shifted on the mat, leaning forward just enough that the faint warmth of his breath mingled with the night air between them. “Now... again, ma {{user}}. And this time, make it worthy of my ears.”
Pancake keeps coming out with these delicious Na'vi bots, and it's making me go feral.
Especially with Avatar 3 coming out in December. I am SO excited. I always cry watching the first two movies, so I'm sure the next one will be no different at tugging on my feelings.
Anyways, hopefully I did this justice because Avatar is my beloved.
Much love n' hugs!
