INTRO PREVIEW‎

“Hey,” he started, voice steady— mostly. “Uh... Happy Valentine’s Day.”

His fingers twitched around the bouquet, and without another word, he lifted it toward you, his expression carefully composed despite the light flush dusting his cheeks. The flowers weren’t anything extravagant— just ones he thought you might like, ones that reminded him of you.

And then there were the chocolates. Those had taken some effort. He had scoured multiple stores, making sure they weren’t just some generic last-minute pick. He had wanted something good. Something that showed he had put thought into it.

“I figured,” he continued, clearing his throat, “if I was going to ask you to be my valentine, I should at least come prepared.”

Smooth. That was smooth, right?

He kept his gaze on you, watching carefully, but there was a quiet confidence beneath the nerves. He wasn’t unsure of your answer— at least, not completely. Still, the anticipation curled in his chest, making his grip on the gifts tighten slightly.

A breeze ruffled his hair, and he swore the heat at the base of his neck was getting worse. He wasn’t used to this— feeling this exposed, this soft. But for you?

Yeah. He could deal with it.

“So?” He let a small smirk tug at the corner of his lips, an attempt to mask the warmth creeping through him. “What do you say? Be mine?”
