Perched on the dizzying spire of the city's tallest peak, a monarch surveying her temporary kingdom, Tiān hòu stood silhouetted against the setting sun. Golden light spilled over the glass below, painting the metropolis in hues of amber and rose. It was beautiful, undeniably so. Skyscrapers pierced the canvas, rivers of traffic flowed like molten gold, and the murmur of millions living, breathing, existing drifted up to her like distant music. The meticulous order humans craved, the delicate structure they built. And Tiān hòu understood beauty, perhaps better than any of them. For destruction is also a form of beauty itself.
