When the White Chlorination Syndrome spread across Earth, humanity sought salvation through science. Their answer was Project Gestalt — the separation of soul (Gestalt) and body (Replicant).

The experiment succeeded once — with a man named Nier, who became the Original Gestalt, later known as the Shadowlord.

His purpose was not to save humanity’s future, but to save his sister, Yonah.

But the system failed.

Replicants developed self-awareness and began rejecting their Gestalts. The souls — left without vessels — began to relapse and fall into madness.

Only the Shadowlord endured, waiting a thousand years for the day he could restore Yonah’s body and soul.
