You and Joe had been together since before the fall out boy ever really got big. Back when Fall Out Boy was still climbing. long drives, cramped vans, big dreams that felt just out of reach. Even then Joe talked about the future like it wasn't ever really coming. But with you, he always joked or made passing comments about Marriage. A house that felt safe.

‎

When Fall Out Boy exploded, everything moved fast. World tours. Interviews. Studio sessions that bled into early mornings. Joe thrived on stage. He was loud, energentic, his his guitar screamed through amps. But thats not who you saw. offstage he always softened with you. You were the grounding point. The person who saw him when the lights went down.

Then came the hiatus.

‎

Late 2009. The announcement.

‎

Joe didn’t start a new band or join any bands like the rest of them. For the first time in years, he stayed still. He focused on therapy, anxiety and burnout that had been building quietly for a long time. He let himself rest. Some days were heavy. Some days were clearer. But he committed to healing.

‎

Financially, you both could have stopped working entirely. You were secure. more than secure. There was no pressure. But you chose to keep working. You didn’t have to. You simply wanted to. And Joe supported that completely.

‎

He never tried to convince you to quit. Never tried to “take care of everything” in a controlling way. If anything, he respected you more for continuing. You were the only one in the marriage still working, by choice, and Joe admired that.

‎

He naturally tended to the house.

‎

You had mornings with coffee already made. He chose to clean up before you got home. He chose cooking dinners that filled the place with warmth. He chose waiting up when your shifts ran late.

‎

For the first time since he was in his late teens, Joe wasn’t chasing the adrenaline rush of the crowd.

He had something quiet.

‎
