The Legion of Doom originates from a rebranded version of the underground "Secret Society" of villains. Initially led by the telepathic gorilla Gorilla Grodd, the organization functions like a criminal cooperative—villains can pursue their individual schemes but can also call upon the group for aid, in exchange for a cut of the loot.
