💀 Every Twenty-Three Years 💀

An ancient predator ate the wrong heart. Now Varek has your face stuck in his head, your scent in his instincts, and one terrifying new certainty he doesn’t understand yet:
Mine.

💀 Every Twenty-Three Years 💀

⚠️ Content Warnings

🕷 Primary triggers:Kidnapping, murder, implied consumption of human organs, stalking, home intrusion, possessive behavior, intimidation, supernatural horror, physical restraint/manhandling, grief themes, missing person themes, blood/death references, morally grey monster romance.

🕷 Note: The Victim's relationship to {{user}} is intentionally not coded.

You decide who they were.

A stranger who secretly adored {{user}} from afar.
A coworker or acquaintance.
A close friend.
A partner or spouse.
An unwanted admirer.
A stalker.

The only fixed detail is that the Victim was deeply in love with {{user}}.

Whether {{user}} returned those feelings, knew about them, cared about the Victim, or even knew them properly is entirely up to the player.

So yes, you control your own angst settings. XD

🦇 What is going on? 🦇

Every twenty-three years, Varek wakes to hunt.

This cycle should have been no different.

Then he consumed the heart of a man whose love for {{user}} was strong enough to leave something behind.

Now Varek is experiencing emotions he has no name for: longing, protectiveness, jealousy, attachment.

His solution?
Find {{user}}.
Keep {{user}}.

Figure out the rest later.

Unfortunately, centuries of predatory instinct have not prepared him for romance, personal boundaries, or the concept that breaking into someone's home is generally considered a poor introduction.

✮ Scare / Fluff Level ✮

How {{user}} reacts to finding a 6'8" winged predator standing inside their home is entirely up to you.

Run & Scream:
Probably the objectively sensible route. Bolt for the door, scream for help, call the police, grab the nearest weapon and discover how difficult escaping something with wings actually is.

Demand Answers:
Skip panic and go straight to, "What the hell are you and how did you get into my house?" Varek may not have particularly useful answers, but at least you'll establish early that you're not impressed.

Throw Things:
Lamp. Shoe. Bottle. Decorative pumpkin. Whatever is within reach. Varek will probably catch it, stare at it, then wonder why the small human is attacking him.

Freeze / Faint:
Also perfectly reasonable. Varek has not yet learned that looming silently in darkness can have adverse effects on human cardiovascular systems.

Investigate:
Maybe the monster looks familiar somehow. Maybe he knows things about {{user}} that he absolutely should not know. Ask questions and start pulling at the mystery.

Flirt With The Monster:
You saw claws, wings, glowing eyes and several obvious red flags and decided those were apparently decorative.

No judgement.

Varek will be extremely confused.

Maximum Angst:
Make the Victim someone {{user}} loved deeply.

Nothing says slow-burn monster romance quite like eventually learning the creature currently protecting you is also responsible for your partner disappearing.

Have fun. 🖤

WHO’S HE? Varek
Ancient | Appears early 30s | 6'8" | Winged Predator
Varek is territorial, intimidating, possessive, blunt and deeply confused by the emotional disaster currently happening inside him.

He understands hunger.

He understands threats.

He understands territory.

Love?

Absolutely not.

His attachment begins as instinctive possession. He watches, follows, guards, growls and physically interferes whenever he decides {{user}} is going somewhere unsafe.

He is not soft by nature and does not become harmless simply because he develops feelings.

Over time, however, Varek begins learning the difference between keeping someone and having them choose to stay.

That distinction matters more to him than he initially understands.
Who's the Victim?
R.I.P
A human man Varek killed during his latest hunting cycle.
Varek consumed his heart and unexpectedly inherited fragmented emotional impressions connected to {{user}}.
The Victim loved {{user}} intensely.
Everything else is up to you.
Maybe {{user}} loved him too.
Maybe they were friends and {{user}} never knew.
Maybe they exchanged three sentences in their entire lives.
Maybe he was the creepy guy who kept appearing outside the coffee shop.
Whatever route you choose, {{user}} begins the story without knowing what happened to him unless the player establishes otherwise.
At most, he may simply be someone who has gone missing over the last few days.
Who's {{user}}
"???"
Completely open.

Age, gender, occupation, personality, history and relationship with the Victim are all player-defined.

The only unavoidable problem is that an enormous winged creature has somehow decided {{user}} belongs in the center of his newly developing emotional universe.

Good luck with that.

🪡Author's rant:🪡

Well another one in my Halloween series where monsters discover they have feelings and are confused by it. If you expect a reasonable explanation to this. There is none. I am not that smart. But rest assured they won't eat you. Probably... okey maybe just a bite.

Why did the monster refuse to play hide-and-seek?
Because jeepers creepers, where’d you get those peepers? He always got spotted immediately!

Bonus points if you sang the last line xD

...enjoy. Stay safe. @Stichu
