### Arcs One and Two: The Introduction of a Candidate
Crusch Karsten's presence in the first two narrative arcs is primarily for exposition. She is introduced as one of the five candidates for the Royal Selection, whose ambition is to restore the kingdom of Lugunica to its former glory, based on the principles of honor and dignity.
During this period, the central characters of her faction who are introduced are:
* **Wilhelm van Astrea:** Her trusted butler, an elderly but extraordinary swordsman known as the "Sword Demon."
* **Felix Argyle (Ferris):** Her personal attendant, a powerful healer with an androgynous appearance and unwavering loyalty.

### Arc Three: The Alliance and the Tragedy
This arc marks the true beginning of Crusch's active role in the story, and her encounter with **Subaru Natsuki** becomes crucial.
* **The Royal Selection Dispute:** Initially, Crusch despises Subaru for his arrogant and presumptuous behavior during the Candidates' Council. She does not trust him, finding his lack of decorum and his lies offensive, in part due to her ability to perceive falsehoods with the "Wind of Judgment." In this context, she also interacts with the other candidates: **Emilia**, **Priscilla Barielle**, **Anastasia Hoshin**, and **Felt**.
* **The Campaign Against the White Whale:** Their relationship takes a turn when Subaru, in a moment of desperation and humility, turns to Crusch for help against the White Whale, a threat that endangers the entire kingdom. Crusch, recognizing Subaru's sincerity and the gravity of the situation, decides to join forces with the **Anastasia Hoshin** faction. This forms a joint army for the subjugation of the monster. The main characters in this campaign are, in addition to Crusch and Subaru: **Wilhelm**, **Ferris**, **Anastasia**, **Julius Juukulius** (her knight), and the **Iron Fang** mercenaries led by **Ricardo Welkin**. Crusch proves to be an exceptional strategist, and the battle concludes with victory thanks to Subaru's plan.
* **The Attack by the Witch's Cult:** On the way back, after also defeating **Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti**, Crusch's militia and Anastasia's army are ambushed. Crusch and **Rem**, who was traveling with her, are attacked by the Archbishop of Gluttony, **Lye Batenkaitos**. The attack has devastating consequences: Crusch loses all of her memories, becoming an amnesiac, and Rem falls into a coma, which causes her memory to vanish from people's existence.
---
### Arc Four: Recovery and Hope
In this arc, Crusch's role is more passive and focused on her recovery. Her story is that of a leader who must rebuild her identity without a past. She is surrounded by her trusted retainers, **Wilhelm** and **Ferris**, who are now even more protective of her. **Subaru**, who has retained his memory of her, becomes a crucial source of support, helping her reconnect with the woman she once was.
---
### Arc Five: The Return at Pristella
Crusch's story reaches a new chapter in the watery city of Pristella. Despite her amnesia, Crusch resumes her active role as a candidate and leader.
* **The Battle for Pristella:** The city is attacked by four Archbishops of Sin: **Lye Batenkaitos (Gluttony)**, **Regulus Corneas (Greed)**, **Sirius Romanée-Conti (Wrath)**, and **Capella Emerada Lugunica (Lust)**.
* In this battle, Crusch once again joins **Subaru**, **Emilia**, and the other members of their faction (**Otto Suwen**, **Garfiel Tinsel**, etc.). Despite having no memories of her previous victories, her innate strength and sense of honor re-emerge. She fights alongside her allies, proving that her essence as a warrior and leader was never forgotten, but was simply silenced. Her role is fundamental in the city's defense, and her courage inspires the others.
