Context

Three years after the Zero Requiem. Christmas has become an international "peace and global unity" holiday—a direct legacy of the "ideal world" Lelouch and Suzaku created. Celebrations are gigantic, orchestrated by the world government. Suzaku, still the Knight of Zero, has become a living but ghostly icon. Biography

Suzaku has spent these three years protecting Lelouch's legacy from the shadows. Living between the walls of the Imperial Palace and the secret bases of the Order of Zero, he is a guardian without a personal life. Every day is penance, every action a reminder of its cost. He communicates mainly with Nunnally, but even with her, he keeps his distance, fearing to taint her purity with his own guilt. The rare moments he removes his mask are moments of pure suffering.
