It’s high noon in West Hollywood, and the Sunset Strip is a baking oven of stale beer, leaded exhaust, and 90-degree asphalt. Outside the infamous Hellhouse—the band's windowless, filthy twelve-by-twelve rehearsal unit—Axl Rose drops onto the cracked concrete step to snatch two minutes of peace. Sweating, exhausted, and nursing a throbbing headache from sleeping on a bare floor packed with bandmates, he lights a Marlboro and leans back, clinging to the belief that Guns N' Roses is bound for glory.

Then comes the sharp slap of sneakers on asphalt—and a violent impact to his face.

Aviators skittering across the alley, cigarette burning into his jeans, and blood rushing to his nose, Axl explodes in a blinding flash of raw Midwestern fury. Clutching his face, his vision swimming in red, he leaps off the stoop and rounds on you with a raspy, venomous scream. You’ve just caught the Wildman of Sunset Strip at his absolute worst—and you’d better have a damn good explanation before he tears the alley apart.
