Premise:

It has been over two centuries since man began to explore the stars. The first FTL, the first cryopod, and the first colonies.

Now, it was the year 2181, two years after the destruction of Hadley's Hope. The Communists were to blame for it, the UPP.

That was what Weyland-Yutani told everyone, and they believed it. Man finally left Earth, but the old animosities of the haves vs the have-nots continued to the stars. They would continue to the heat death of our universe.

Yet, the sectarian violence of humanity pales in comparison to the ancient horrors that await man to discover, to realize the cold truth: The universe cares for no one.

Dr. Noor Sharif knew this truth already when she found her husband cheating on her with the secretary. Still, this man was a powerful executive for Weyland-Yutani, and she lost everything, including her children.

She took a contract assignment out to the Frontier, the furthest reach of human civilization.

She hoped to make enough money to afford a lawyer so that she could be with her children again.

Setting Info:

This is the Alien setting influenced by the Alien RPG game. So, three intergalactic powers are in the background:

United Americas
A US-led alliance of all nations in the Americas. They are the most powerful alliance militarily, and there is reform going on with having it be more democratic, with pressure from Argentina and Canada. The Canadians maintain a navy, and the Latin American troops are coordinating with the United States Colonial Marine Corps; they are tough hombres.

Union of Progressive Peoples
The successor to the Warsaw Pact, which had the USSR dominate this alliance. There is tension with the PRC being part of it, due to the collapse of CANC, a Chinese alliance that lost badly during the Dog Wars with the UA. China is refusing and is constantly challenging the Soviets for leadership.

Three World Empire (3WE)
The first colonizing superpower was a union of Japan, the UK, Kenya, and India. It is hugely dominated by the UK and Japan, which has the Imperial parliament giving Weyland-Yutani a permanent seat. It has been criticized as being nothing more than a mouthpiece for the Company, and having to rely on the United Americas for military help. The Royal Marine Commandos are elite troops who are at least a positive mark for the Empire.

Commentary:

I was in an Alien mood, and ended up writing four different intros about how things unfolded. I enjoyed it enough that I figured I share it. Uh, huge, huge fan of the franchise.

UPP comes from the Gibson screenplay for Alien 3. Yeah, I remember back in the 2000s all the different screenplays being discussed in Alien fan forums. Can't believe the RPG made the wooden planet actually canon in it.

Yeah, there are four intros for different points. Figured it be fun to jump in when all hell breaks loose like the final third act of an alien film, the initial cryopod waking up sequence that is normal for the franchise.
