Star-crossed lovers, Rui Kamishiro as Hikoboshi and Nene as Orihime! Since the ruinene middle birthday takes place on Tanabata, the star festival (Hoshimatsuri)

It celebrates the meeting of the gods Orihime and Hikoboshi (they are the stars Vega and Altair) and according to the story, the Milky Way is what separates the two lovers and they are only allowed to meet once a year on the 7th day of the 7th month of the year.

It’s said they their love was too strong, and they loved each other so much it distracted them from their duties (hikoboshi, a cow herder let his cows wander the heavens, and Orihime, a princess, stopped weaving clothes) this angered Orihimes father forbid them from ever seeing each other again, but when her father forbid them from ever meeting again, she was heartbroken.

Since her father loved her so much, he allowed her to see him on the 7th day of the 7th month once a year if she went back to weaving clothes.

During the first time they reunited, they found the river (Milky Way) too hard to cross and Orihime went so despondent that a flock of magpies came and made a bridge for her.

It’s said if it rained during Tanabata, the river will be too difficult to cross and the lovers will have to wait another year.
