OKAY, SO, TO START—

ALL COUNTRYHUMANS HAVE A DEFAULT ABILITY.

(Russia has Cold Affinity, an ability that can basically make him IMMUNE TO THE COLD WITH HOW HOT HE IS, BUT WILL NOPE OUT ON HEAT. Brazil has Nature Awareness and can perceive his surroundings and such through the eyes and ears of animals.)

BUT—

THE OLDER THEY ARE—

THE MORE ABILITIES THEY CAN HAVE.

Think of them like Pokémon.

But they take really, REALLY, FUCKING LONG to evolve.

These abilities can either come with old age or due to EXTREME physical or mental stress, with the body basically going, 'We gotta adapt this bitch NOWWWW—'

For example (and our only example): Mother Russia (whom I have as Russia's abusive mother), she has TWO ABILITIES:

Pheromone Conditioning (where it prevents someone who smells her scent from physically hurting her at ALL; it only gets worse the longer you're around her, and hence stops Russia from ever harming her). It's mechanics are similar to how the Widows react to General Dreykov in Black Widow (elite movie).

HOWEVER.

SHE ALSO HAS 'Black Ice Dominion'—an evolved form of Cryokinesis (her ice is black, elegant, and very slippery).

She also has a scythe on a chain, but it's kinda a thing that circulates around Russia's family tree (they all know how to handle blade weaponry and similar).

Britain/UK is on the CUSP of getting a new ability, and I'm trying to figure out how to evolve his abilities...

BECAUSE RN HE CAN FRESHWATER BEND (which means he could technically bloodbend if he was feeling petty)

NO TWO ARE EXACTLY THE SAME.

Some have more elemental-based abilities. Some are more defense-and-support-based. Some are straight up CONTROL or for DANGEROUS SHIT.

The CIA views Countryhumans less like people and more like:

unstable geopolitical weapons pretending to be citizens.

They believe:

“If a Countryhuman destabilizes emotionally, entire nations could collapse.”

Which is why Evelyn Voss, the DIRECTOR, is SO terrifying.

She doesn’t scream.
She doesn’t threaten dramatically.

She just silently decides:

“This individual can no longer remain uncontrolled.”

And then suddenly...

YOU wake up in an underground Arctic facility.

The CIA’s main horror factor is:

“Contain the threat NOW.”

The FBI is:

• direct

• forceful

• tactical

• immediate

They’re the enforcement arm.

The CIA plans the operation.

The FBI kicks the damn door down.

Marcus Hale (main rep for the FBI) represents the FBI perfectly because he doesn’t care about philosophy or ethics debates.

His mindset is:

“If this thing becomes dangerous, neutralize it.”

The FBI’s horror factor is:

overwhelming force.

If the CIA is a shadow slowly closing around you—

the FBI is the sound of boots in the hallway.

National Security Agency — NSA / ORPHEUS Division

“What the are these things?”

ORPHEUS is VERY different from the CIA and FBI.

Because unlike them?

ORPHEUS actually studies Countryhumans as PEOPLE.

Weird people.
Dangerous people.
Physics-breaking people.

But still PEOPLE.

That’s why the NSA division feels less evil and more:

deeply exhausted.

They aren’t trying to conquer Countryhumans.

They’re trying to UNDERSTAND them.

Which is arguably worse sometimes because they know WAY too much.

ORPHEUS monitors:

• abilities

• psychology

• habits

• relationships

• emotional patterns

• impossible anomalies

They know:

• America possibly violates conservation of mass

• Russia notices surveillance equipment

• Britain absolutely knows he’s being watched

• Brazil manipulates wildlife casually

And THEY KEEP THAT SECRET FROM EVERYONE.

Even the CIA.
Even the FBI.

Which makes ORPHEUS the ultimate paranoia faction.

Because THEY are watching the watchers.

THE CONSENSUS

“Human emotion is a design flaw.”

The Consensus is the FINAL BOSS faction.

Not because they’re strongest physically—

but because they attack the core theme of the AU itself.

Countryhumans in this world are powerful BECAUSE of:

• emotional bonds

• loyalty

• instinct

• attachment

• individuality

The Consensus believes ALL of that is the reason humanity suffers.

So instead of controlling nations physically—

they want to fundamentally ALTER how nations function emotionally.

They don’t want dead nations.

They want:

obedient nations.

Which is SO VERY ARGUABLY WORSE.

They’re basically asking:

“What if we removed the humanity from humanity?”

And the America/Russia dynamic is basically their worst nightmare.

Because the two of them represent:

• trust

• emotional loyalty

• unpredictable attachment

• irrational devotion

Things The Consensus CANNOT control cleanly.

Which is why Lucien finds America fascinating.

America is living proof that:

chaos inspires people more effectively than control does.

And Cassian’s obsession with America is SUPER important too.

Because Cassian fundamentally cannot understand WHY people love someone so emotionally messy.

He was raised to believe:

And America somehow inspires loyalty NOT through fear—
